On November 3, 2024, the Heidelberg artist Matthias Maaß would have turned 66. On this occasion, we would like to remember the impressive work he left us.
Maaß’s paintings, drawings and etchings are characterized by a deep understanding of the human emotional world, which he brought to canvas in an incomparable way with techniques such as watercolor and ink. His work has been an integral part of the art scene in Heidelberg and beyond since the 1980s.
The artistic and human vision of Matthias Maaß
Matthias Maaß’s works deal sensitively with the human psyche and its complexity. Through his personal perspective and striking style, he leaves a legacy that lives on both in the art world and in the lives of his friends and companions. Even after his untimely death in 2019, his artistic vision remains alive – a vision that visitors can experience today through the Matthias Maaß Collection.
